1Avoid these snowshoes
By mark
I received a pair of these Seattle Sports snowshoes (8x25) for Christmas two days ago. They seemed just fine, and I went out yesterday to try them out. I adjusted the bindings to my boots at home and after about 1 minute on the snow I pulled on the left heel buckle strap to tighten it and the buckle broke. I'm glad I wasn't a long way from my car, but my test hike was over. I just got off the phone with Seattle Sports and they would offer me no help with finding a replacement buckle. I was told that Seattle Sports discontinued all snowshoes two years ago and sold all their remaining inventory to Amazon. They had no help to offer. I just went on Amazon to look at these shoes and I see both customer reviews mention the same problem I have. Do yourself a favor and buy something else. 12/27/2012

5Excellent Shoes, perform better than advertised!
By Motofish
My wife and I recently purchased two pairs (8"x25" for her and 10"x30" for me) of these 'shoes for each of us to take on a backpacking trip to San Jacinto mountain. The previous weekend we took an exploratory hike along a portion of our route before we received our 'shoes, and frequently fell through the crust of the snow up to our thighs (I'm 6'3", so it was deep snow!) and this was while only carrying light hiking packs... The following week, we received our 'shoes and were extremely happy with the quality and construction, especially considering their generous size and light weight (approximately 5 lbs total combined weight). During our backpacking trip, we were happy we had them with us, as they kept us completely dry, up on top of the snow. I can attest to the weight rating of the 30" 'shoes, my pack weighed 60 lbs and I'm 230 lbs (290 total) and the shoes held me up on the snow, and structurally held together extremely well! My only problem (very minor) was when I was tightening up on the strap at the back of my boot, one of the sides of the plastic clip broke off ( I was pulling on it pretty hard) however it still held my boot securely in place for the rest of the trip. I would recommend these snowshoes in a heartbeat, they are light, strong, easy to use, and they look great! We definitely got more than we paid for with these 'shoes!
