A good idea that doesn't work.
By Laird A. Scott
One star is probably too high a rating for this product. The concept seems great. I had imagined that I could carry them in a coat pocket and easily slip them on when encountering ice. But the things are way too hard to get on, and they come off when walking through snow. This product has proven completely worthless to me.
Others may have had better luck with this item. Perhaps my experience is with a product of poor quality control from China, combined with lack if incoming quality control by the importer.

Oustanding for snow and ice
By The Headhunter
These traction slip-ons work better than another brand I used for several years. Those had screw-in devices to grip on snow and ice, and when they wore out, they were impossible to remove and replace. Because they were basically screws with heads that had sharp edges, they wore out quickly. (They also cost 2X as much as this product.) These Due Norths have very hard tungsten carbide tips that REALLY grip. My driveway is basically a ski slope and these slip-ons work incredibly well.
Someone complained that they are not easy to put on. Nonsense, but it's best to sit down when you stretch them over your shoes, because you need to adjust them a bit so they're on your shoes properly. The latex material stretches over shoes ranging across several sizes. I wear men's 8.5-9.5 shoes, and the Large/XLarge fit fine. They also stretch over my snowboots, which are much bigger than regular shoes. One size fits shoes, snow boots, and my hiking boots. My guess is the person complaining about ease of use just wants to lift a foot and slip them on while walking. That's nuts. It takes less than a minute to do it right, and the payoff is tremendous - these things work! They can be removed VERY quickly and easily - while standing up. Because they're very flexible, they can be rolled up and put in a coat pocket. Just be careful to roll them with the spikes side IN so they don't snag your pocket.
One caution, which is on the packaging: DO NOT wear these things in your house or on floors. They will cause damage. The spikes are designed to bite into a surface and grip. I walked on a piece of cardboard and the spikes punched holes in it. They are sharp. So be careful. But like any good tool, these do a great job when used as intended -- on snow or ice! If any of these cautions bother you, think of these as a pocket knife - treat them with respect and common sense. They are sharp so handle with care. The spikes can be removed from the slip-ons very easily, and you get 2 replacement spikes in the package. I'm ordering another pair. One to keep in the house, and another to keep in my truck. The price is right!

great for walking on ice!
By R. White
These Work great and aren't that hard to get on. They keep you from slipping on ice and I use them for shoveling my walks. I use them often to walk on ice and haven't fallen yet. They come with extra spikes if you break or loose one. I haven't had any problems with the spikes and they aren't sharp they are flat on the ends so they don't scratched anything when I use them.
