This was the winter in New England for a ton of snow. When it got really deep I put these tails on my MSR snowshoes and just floated. The MSR snowshoes are worth the extra money for a very stable, quality product

These add on tails to the MSR Lightning snowshoes are even better than I thought they'd be.... fantastic in the field, easy to put on/off... Definitely worth the weight to carry, either in pack or on feet!

When you face deep snow, there is nothing better than more floatation. If I could do it over again, I would have gotten the 30" Lightning Axis and these tails. Instead I have the 25" (my weight was right in the middle of this range) and for the area I snowshoe, the extra float would definitely come in handy.
